for the cure....

a beautiful cool morning....over 40,000 people...3,500 survivors...3.1 miles....a sea of pink...

RACE FOR THE CURE!

i walked in honor of all those who have been inflicted with this terrible disease. for those who have endured hours, day, weeks, months of chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries. for those who have lost their hair. for those who have lost their breast or breasts. and for those who have lost the battle.

i walked in honor of my friend, my personal hero, dawn smith. she has shown me that when cancer invades your body, your life, you have a choice to make. dawn makes the choice every day to wake up and live life to the fullest. a mother of 4, she has shown cancer that it will not defeat her. it will not defeat her family. every day she is reminded that she still has this disease. every day she fights! she doesn't win every day, but she keeps on fighting! for dawn, i walked. for everything you've faced and continue to face. for your amazing strength and courage. dawn, you have taught me such life lessons! i love you girl! now keep kicking some cancer a**!
