Aleph...Bet..Vet...

ALEPH, BET, VET...
GIMMEL, DALET, HEY!

Some of you may be thinking, "what the heck is this???"...while others of you are singing right along...knowing the Hebrew alphabet (or Aleph-Bet)!

Andrew had his first day of Religious School this past Sunday. While it wasn't a full class session, due to orientation, they still cranked out some Jewish knowledge! Andrew learned about the first letter of the Aleph-Bet...which is Aleph.

He made this beautiful Fruit Loop Aleph and also told me that Aleph does not make a sound! I responded by telling him that it made the "ah" sound, which he quickly told me was incorrect. He said one of the other kids in class thought it did, but the teacher told them it makes no sound at all! So...day one of religious school and I'm already learning from my Kindergartner!
They also learned about Rosh Hashanah, the Shofar and read a great book about the holiday as well.

I am so glad Andrew enjoyed his first day! Judaism is very important to me and I want to instill an early love for learning our faith and traditions. I will keep you posted on future Religious School happenings!

looks like you still remember you hebrew alphabet!
andrew is right about the aleph having no sound....the sound is made by the vowel beneath the letter.

Sheesh! I am quite sure he could teach me a thing or two as well. By the way, when did he become "Andrew P."?

i was wondering the same thing! maybe it's "p" for philip??? i'm thinking it was just the teacher's mistake tho!
