if the shoe fits....

“Give a girl the correct footwear and she can conquer the world”
-Bette Midler

dorothy banocy...this post is for you!

i have been on a hunt for the perfect flat calf-high black boot. i have to admit (and NEVER thought i'd say this), but i LOVE wearing my skinny jeans or leggings with a pair of boots. i've been sporting this look at work, with my dressy high heeled boots, but i want something for more casual outfits too. so...during a recent trip to the mall in st louis, i asked my mother-in-law if there were any good shoe stores in the mall. she replied that she didn't know, because she can't buy shoes at stores. my dear mother-in-law has such small feet that most shoe stores don't carry shoes her size! how cute ;)
can you imagine though?!?! i would save A LOT of money if i wasn't tempted to look at shoes EVERY time i was at the mall, target, kohls, etc!!!

well...she shared with me that she buys her shoes online...so i thought i'd check it out. i wasn't able to find anything on the sites i checked out. as you can imagine, this shoe lover was pretty bummed!
BUT....today i found a great deal....and of course, i want to share it with you. you know how people say that the calories don't count, if you share with a friend?? well....i believe the spending doesn't count if you share the deal with a friend :) :) :)

i found these ADORABLE boots at shoebuy.com....got them 10% off...PLUS free shipping!!! wait....there's more....if i don't like them....it's free return shipping too!!! i have a feeling this is NOT going to help me shoe addiction!

dorothy....you've got to check it out!!! they have shoes as small as a size 1.5.....i didn't even know they came that small :)

hope you all enjoy....happy shopping! and of course, be sure to share your purchases with me....i LOVE seeing other people's finds!

I HEART COUPONS....

AND HERE THEY ARE....
RIGHT AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

NEW COUPONS.COM COUPONS

remember...MOST stores will allow you to use one manufacturer's coupon PLUS one store coupon per item purchased. for example...let's say you have a $1.00 cheerios target coupon, you can USUALLY combine that with the $1.00 cheerios manuf. coupon below to save $2.00 on a box of cheerios! find them on sale (say $2 or 2.50/box) and you're looking at a GREAT BUY!!!
ENJOY!
there are several good yogurt coupons below....not that we'll be using them!

Back to School...An experiment in saving money

One of my FAVORITE things growing up was BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING...and I was SO excited to pass this excitement on to Andrew as he will be entering Kindergarten in just a few weeks! At the Open House a few months ago, we were given the option to pre-order the supply kit for $45. To me, that seemed crazy...not only did I think I could pay WAY LESS for school supplies, but I also thought it was taking the FUN out of shopping for that fresh new notebook...AHHHH! So...I made it my little experiment to see just how much I would spend on Andrew's school supplies...and whether or not I would still say that B2S shopping is fun, after all the bargain hunting.

I just completed the shopping today and here it is...A GRAND TOTAL OF $20.12!!!!

· 2 Boxes Crayola crayons (24 pack) $.25 each = $.50

· 18 Small Elmer’s glue sticks $.25/2 = $2.25

· 1 Pair of Fiskars scissors – Blunt Tip $1.50

· 1 Plain Red Pocket Folders – Plastic with Brads $.75

· 1 Composition book (black & white marbled) for word study $.25

· 2 Bottles Elmer’s liquid glue – 4oz. $.25 each = $.50

· 4 Pack of Expo Dry Erase Markers (Thick) FREE USING CVS REWARDS

· 1 Crayola Watercolors paint set (8 colors with brush) $1.97

· 1 Three ring zippered pencil pouch (clear plastic) $.40

· 1 Box of tissues (name brand preferred) FREE USING CVS REWARDS

· 1 Container of Hand Sanitizer Gel FREE - had in the house from previous freebie!

· 1 Box baby wipes (unscented) FREE - had in the house from previous freebie!

· 1 Box gallon size slide-lock storage bags $2

· 1 Box quart size slide-lock storage bags $2

· 1 Beach towel or blanket for quiet time FREE - seriously...don't buy a new one...use one your child already knows and loves!

· 1 Full-sized, 2-strap backpack (no wheels) $6 - we weren't even going to buy a new one, but when I saw this one on clearance, I couldn't resist!

1 Box Crayola Washable Classic Color Markers (Thick) $2

I will admit that I definitely could've found a few things even cheaper, but as the weeks went by, I just wanted to get it done! I am proud to say that not only did I SAVE MONEY, but it was FUN!!!

Hope you all enjoy your adventures in B2S shopping....be they frugal or not!

a penny saved...

...is almost $11 earned!
that's right...this week, i hit some awesome deals at walgreens. unfortunately, derek put away the goods before i could snap a pic, so you'll have to use your imagination on this one...
i walked out of the store with...
11 cans tomato sauce - we use A LOT of this for cooking in our house
2 boxes kelloggs raisin bran
2 boxes kelloggs frosted flakes
pack of gum
a nice fancy razor/trimmer
headache meds
candy bar
coffee
by using my walgreens reward bucks and gift card (from previous rebates) i spent ZERO money out of pocket and actually EARNED $2 reward bucks and $8.79 in rebate gift card bucks!!!
these items would have cost over $36...BUT I MADE ALMOST $11 shopping!!!

Shopwiki

If you are one who tends to do a lot of your shopping online, you should check out Shopwiki. It is like a google search engine dedicated to online shopping...I mean how much easier can shopping get?!?! They search the internet for the best deals, so all you need to do is type in what you're looking for and bam...there it is! You can search by category, brand, and for those of us shopping with a budget in mind, you can even search within a specific price range.

The site seems to be quite organized, as it is broken down into different categories. Through Shopwiki, you can find many items for your little one, such as diapers, car seats, clothes and so much more. I tried out the site, by searching for a game Andrew had played at a friend's house. I simply entered the name of the game and it returned multiple options, which I could then sort by price.

Next time you head online to fill your cart, be sure to check out Shopwiki. I'm sure I'll be using it for holiday shopping this year!

jodi...this blog's for you...

***i got everything in this picture for ONLY $16.45***
by using coupons and taking advantage of store deals i saved $36.11

as many of you know, derek's sister jodi introduced me to this new world of couponing that i've fallen in love with :) a few weeks ago, after calling jodi to tell her about the great deals i had scored that day, she laughed and said something like "oh my god. you're going to be one of those people who takes pictures of her deals and puts it on her blog."
so jodi...how does it feel to be right???

after checking my favorite money saving website i collected my coupons, made my lists and headed out to cvs and target

the deals i am most excited about...

huggies wipes - 99cents/184 pack - these retail for $5.99-7.99
secret deodorant - FREE
crest toothpaste - FREE
johnsons buddies bar - FREE
motts applesauce 6 pack - 19cents each - this retails at target for $1.69 each

i still need to go to walgreens this week and take advantage of the huggies diaper deal!

double (and triple) take...

shoppers food warehouse is offering DOUBLE and TRIPLE coupons AGAIN this week! before heading out to the store today, i checked coupons.com and smartsource.com for printable coupons i could use. i also googled coupons for certain products i knew i was going to buy...such as yo baby yogurt! lastly, i checked my coupon organzier for any manufacturer's coupons i could use.

in total, i saved 22% on my shopping bill today by using coupons!

my money saving tip for today is...be sure to bring a calculator with you. while some coupons may seem like they're producing a great deal, it still may be cheaper to buy the generic brand or something else that's on sale. don't forget to calculate this based on the unit pricing, not the total cost of the item. it may add time to your grocery trip, but it will be worth it in the end!

in the bank

my sister-in-law, who is AWESOME at finding bargains and saving money, introduced me to this site yesterday. i have tried numerous coupon websites and this one is by far the best! it tells you what the deals are and exactly how to get them. so...last night i familiarized myself with the site and this morning while derek and andrew were at bball i started my coupon hunt. the deals at cvs are great, but i didn't get there today. i went to target and giant and here are some of the best deals i scored today...

coffeemate coffee creamer - retails at target $1.67 - i used a $1.50 manuf. coupon - paid only 17cents!

yoplait yogurt (8) - retails at for $4.72 (59cents each) - i used $1 off manuf. coupon PLUS $1 off target coupon - paid only $2.72 (that's ONLY 34cents each)!

del monte can corn - on sale at giant for $1 - i used 75cent manuf. coupon, which was DOUBLED to $1.50 - paid ZERO and EARNED 50 cents on my purchase!

i'll be sure to keep you posted on future deals i score! i am very excited (if you can't tell) and got such a high after saving this money today, that i think i've found a new hobby...coupon hunting :) thanks jodi!!!
